Bug Description

pkg-config is an essential tool for software to detect libraries and acquire the build flags to use them properly. This package should contain (ie) /usr/lib/pkgconfig/glew.pc but does not. See Mesa's gl.pc for an example of a similar package.

Lack of this file (and thus ability to detect a system-wide library) leads upstream packagers to include a local static copy of GLEW making more work for Ubuntu packagers to modify upstream build scripts to manually link to this library.

Please, for the cost of a few hundred bytes in a -dev package it will save a lot of headache.

This bug was fixed in the package glew - 1.5.1-7ubuntu2

---------------
glew (1.5.1-7ubuntu2) lucid; urgency=low

  * Add pkg-config files (LP: #505712):
    + Makefile: Generate pkg-config files
    + debian/libglew{,mx}1.5-dev.install:
    + debian/rules: Amend for pkg-config addition
  * debian/watch: Fix regex, as upstream tarball filename has changed
