Bug Description

E: Couldn't find package libtifiles-dev

But the actual problem is that Ubuntu's renamed package "libtifiles2" in Lucid blocks Debian package "libtifiles" from uploading. Likewise, Ubuntu's renamed "libticalcs2" will be in conflict with Debian's "libticalcs". The plan for Lucid is to merge Lucid's "libtifiles2" and "libticalcs2" into "libtifiles" and "libticalcs" (respectively) and then remove the "2" packages.

Side note: What about libticables2? Does it need the same "merge and drop the 2" treatment? (libticalcs-dev depends on libticables2-dev)

Hi Kamal, I just want to check in and see how this is going. The libti*2 libraries appear to be interfering with some other packages: bug #221332. If there is not enough time to get this in for the debian import/FFE, should we aim for lucid+1? Do you need any help with this? ~Scott Howard

one more thing, libticables2 and libticables are different versions (1.2 and 1.3), and there is an api break if you were to merge and drop.

Hi Scott H. -

The merge work for libtifiles and libticalcs is actually done, and just awaiting review by Scott Kitterman, since he originally assigned me to this task. (See the branches attached to this bug and LP: #507741 -- feel free to review and comment yourself also).

I'll be happy to handle the rest of the libti* set once these first two get reviewed and approved. I do think they could be done before the imminent freeze (pending ScottK's review of course).

Thanks for your offer to help. I won't hesitate to ask if I need it!

Attached branch merges Ubuntu's libticalcs2 - 1.1.3-0ubuntu1 into the 'libticalcs' tree to create libticalcs - 1.1.3+dfsg1-1ubuntu1. After this branch is uploaded, package 'libticalcs2' should be removed.

Note: per discussion with ScottK in IRC, this can be reviewed by any MOTU -- it need not wait for his review.
