Bug Description
Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-core
Hi
After a fresh install of kubuntu 6.06.1 without problems, performing the available update of xserver-xorg-core makes X unable to restart. (no devices found / no screens found)
With the update, I get this line before the PCI scan in /var/log/Xorg.0.log :
(II) PCI: Found 0 domains.
and the list of PCI devices includes all PCI:00:xxxxx cards but doesn't include the PCI 1:0:0 card :
(II) PCI: 01:00:0: chip 10de,031a card 104d,814f rev a1 class 03,00,00 hdr 00
which is my nvidia card. hence X is unable to start.
same problem with drivers nv / nvidia / vesa. I have BusID "PCI:1:0:0" in xorg.conf
lspci always lists the card :
0000:01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation NV31M [GeForce FX Go5600] (rev a1) (prog-if 00 [VGA])
Subsystem: Sony Corporation: Unknown device 814f
Control: I/O+ Mem+ BusMaster+ SpecCycle- MemWINV- VGASnoop- ParErr- Stepping- SERR- FastB2B-
Status: Cap+ 66MHz+ UDF- FastB2B+ ParErr- DEVSEL=medium >TAbort- <TAbort- <MAbort- >SERR- <PERR-
Latency: 40 (1250ns min, 250ns max)
Interrupt: pin A routed to IRQ 225
Region 0: Memory at d5000000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=16M]
Region 1: Memory at e0000000 (32-bit, prefetchable) [size=256M]
(so does scanpci, so does /proc/bus/
so maybe the PCI scan is broken in newest xserver-xorg-core.
I had to block updates to be able to use my kubuntu :-/ I'd appreciate any bugfix / help.
Thanks !
