Bug Description

The dapper 6.06 live cd doesn't work, so the alternative must be used to install.

After downloading the fglrx driver and upgrading to 6.06.1 the versions are :
Xorg 7.0.x
kernel 2.6.15-26
fglrx 8.25.18

the lspci shows the right card, at 0000:1:0.0 VGA and at 0000:1:0.1 Display controler...

but when the Xorg starts the Xorg.log doesn't show the address in the list to look for it, but the rest of the devices.

with versions for hoary 5.04 :
Xorg 6.8.2
kernel 2.6.12-10
fglrx 8.16.20

works fine.

So there must be some sort of problem with libpci that doesn't search the addresses for PCI-E devices and in particular the ATI and model 5B62.

Is it possible that you incidentially upgraded to the bad xorg package: http://www.ubuntu.com/UpgradeIssue
That problem was about pci detection.

Otherwise, please attach the Xorg.0.log and your xorg.conf

Well I just tried the Knoppix distro with Xorg 7 and the pci detection was fine, but the server didn't start until the vesa driver was tested, I'll attach the log for this.

I'll try to get the log for the Ubuntu Dapper version because I got it running with the Breezy so...
