Bug Description

in maverick we plan to have an upstart job that automatically spawns a getty if a console= argument for a serial console is set on the kernel cmdline. to do that properly init needs to have this argument available so we dont need to do racy parsing of /proc/cmdline.

apparently there is already a patch available that implements the CONFIG_INIT_PASS_ALL_PARAMS but its not applied to all maverick tres and has not seen the final testing yet. once this is available in an omap3 binary, please close this bug.

omap3 in Maverick is maintained in the linux master branch, thus i'm reassigning this to the linux kernel package. The patch to resolve this bug should be available in the most recent 2.6.35-5.6 kernel upload and available for testing via linux-image-2.6.35-5-omap. As a result I'm marking this bug Fix Released. If this is not resolved with this latest 2.6.35-5.6 kernel, feel free to reopen this bug by setting the status back to New. Thanks.

ti-omap4 also needs this change, otherwise some omap4 based machine can't boot properly.

$ ubuntu-maverick/debian.ti-omap4/config$ grep CONFIG_INIT_PASS_ALL_PARAMS config.common.ubuntu
# CONFIG_INIT_PASS_ALL_PARAMS is not set

This change is needed in order to have jasper working for OMAP 4 Blaze devices, otherwise it can't see the correct mmc device.

Tested on kernel rev 2.6.35-903.19 in proposed. Configuration is currently CONFIG_INIT_PASS_ALL_PARAMS=y which is the correct behavior.
