Bug Description

Binary package hint: evince

Filling a PDF form: if the form itself is delivered sideways (rotated 90 degrees counter-clockwise), and View, RotateRight is selected (to make the form readable), my text entries to the form appear sideways, IE rotated 90 degrees clockwise.

For an example, go to http://www.nesa.org/ and open the NESA application PDF. Go to page 4 of 6. See the sideways (landscape) form. Rotate it so you can read it, and try filling it out. Your letters and numbers will appear sideways.

Ubuntu 9.10, Document Viewer 2.28.1 using poppler 0.12.0 (cairo)

e-mail me for any clarifications.

very gratefully,

David Tabor

Well I guess this is still a bug. I gave the web address to get the example file, but here it is attached as requested.
Thanks again -- I love Ubuntu. I'm now on 12.04 LTS

I'm attaching a second file, rotated 90 degrees clockwise, with a few numbers typed in. As you will see, they go in straight but appear sideways. Ubuntu 12.04 LTS with Document Viewer 3.4.0 using poplar/cairo 0.18.4.

@dave945: thanks for the examples, could you add a screenshot showing the issue? The text seems fine there on the current Ubuntu serie, the issue might have been fixed in newer poppler/evince versions (in which case we should look at what commit fixed it and if it can be backported to the lts)

Hi Sebastien,
I'm attaching two screen shots, one before and one after rotating.
Thanks for taking a look.

Thank, that's not happening in the current version so it seems to be fixed, adding a precise target since a fix will need to be backported to that serie

thanks, we have the details we need at this point, we just need somebody to investigate the fix and backport it

The Precise Pangolin has reached end of life, so this bug will not be fixed for that release
