Bug Description

Binary package hint: kdebase

After the recent update of kdebase-bin (4:4.4.85-0ubuntu1) kdeinit4 crashes with a segmentation fault. Due to this, a lot of KDE functionality is missing then: no activities, no localisation, etc.

kdelibs-bin is at version 4:4.4.85-0ubuntu3 too

To add some more information to this problem:

*) It occurs with a newly created user too, so it shouldn't be some old settings

*) When I start a different desktop environment (LXDE in this case) and open some KDE-applications (e.g. kmail), then kded and kdeinit start without any problem.

The KDE service for wacom tablets (kde-config-tablet/kcm-tablet) crashes kded and kdeinit4 (e.g. at login or whenever you activate the service). Only solution is to disable the "Wacom Tablet" service permanently.

I have the same behaviour and don't have a wacom tablet. I can't post from the machine with the problem because my only internet access is wireless and I need kded to access that, so I can't add any information. How does one disable the "wacom tablet" service?

I can also confirm that I don't have kde-config-tablet installed. I'm certain this is the same bug though.

Removing the kde-config-tablet package, as suggested at: the kubuntuforums.net. http://kubuntuforums.net/forums/index.php?topic=3115069.0 solved the crashing for me.

But I would like to configure my wacom tablet and hopes for a bug fix eventually.
