Bug Description

The Gufw short description in the software center (where it is known as Firewall configuration) is: "Allows you to configure ufw firewall". The end-user does not know what is 'ufw', so this should be changed to "Allows you to configure the system's firewall" or "Allows you to configure Ubuntu's firewall".

As for the long description: "gufw is an easy and intuitive way to manage your Linux firewall. It supports common tasks such as allowing or blocking pre-configured, common p2p, or individual port(s), and many others!" Here again, gufw should not be mentionned, but the biggest problem is in 'Linux firewall". Since the recent Ubuntu site redesign has completely removed any mention of Linux, the user will be confused about this and may even leave Ubuntu on the basis that "Linux is for geeks". So, this should be changed to: "Firewall configuration is an easy and intuitive way to manage your Ubuntu firewall. It supports common tasks such as allowing or blocking pre-configured, common P2P, or individual port(s), and many others!"

Thank you for submitting the bug report. It is clear in my eyes that the current description and title is somewhat confusing. However, ufw is not Ubuntu specific as far as I know. My suggestion would be to change the text firstly from the current name "Firewall Configuration" to something like "gufw - firewall configuration utility" given 'gufw' is the actual name stated in the description. As well as changing the description in the software centre from the current "Allows you to configure ufw firewall" to something like 'Allows you to configure a firewall for your computer." Going to need some feedback on this one...

ufw is specific to Ubuntu, but was portable to Debian & Arch repositories.

I think that add "utility" to the name is unhelpful, because you will search by "firewall" or "configuration", not "utility" :)

I think is correct: 'Allows you to configure a firewall for your computer."

@Marcos: The title "Firewall Configuration" is an odd name for an application.
"Firewall Utility" , "Firewall Configuration Tool" , "Graphical Firewall Utility" , "Firewall Organizer" would be better though generic. Better to have a catchy name[GFirewall , FireGuard, Quick Firewall..., ]

As far as your concern about users searching "firewall" or "configuration" , search either of those terms in SC and you will find GuardDog in the list.
If searching is the reason why the gui-ufw is name so , search is not an issue here , you can add those words [firewall , configure , configuration] in the short/long description and SC will find the app. Having a unique proper name would be better.
And replace gufw with any other name you can choose.

For the short description : "Allows you to configure the firewall" should do.

If you at loss for a catchy name, you can ask the docs team too , either the gnome or ubuntu docs team, they can help out with this.

Since ufw is already installed in Ubuntu, the following short description should be fine:

And since we dont have a replacement name for "gufw" , we can just drop it from description! :)

Title , Firewall Configuration can be replaced with a nicer name too, Marcos any luck? ;)

I agree, because not all people know what is a "GUI" ;)
