Build in input drivers for speed

Bug Description

Meego uses the attached patch [1] to build in support for the 'evdev' and 'synaptic' drivers. I believe it saves about a second on startup.

Are those safe to build in? (I don't really understand the ramifications of doing so, but hopefully building them in doesn't hurt users that don't use either of them.) If it is safe, maybe we should use the patch too?

Launchpad seems to like to eat this comment!

Looking at their spec, MeeGo doesn't seem to actually build the input drivers into the server (I don't think that's possible without more extensive patching). Rather, they build in the config files the input drivers ship to make them autoload.

I don't think that these conf files change frequently. I think that a user-added conf file will correctly override this, but need to check.

If ureadahead is working properly I don't think this will be big win on startup time, but that's just my gut, not any hard numbers.

RAOF, mind taking another look at this? If it looks like it's worth testing, how about tossing it in a PPA?

the x-team discussed this idea today, and came to the conclusion to close the bug as wontfix. Building any driver inside the xserver makes it harder to update them, and it might also break input-hotplug, which is not needed for embedded devices.
