Bug Description

Binary package hint: couchdb

Ubuntu 10.10 Alpha 3 has CouchDB 1.0, which is affected by a serious data loss bug: http://couchdb.apache.org/notice/1.0.1.html

It should be updated to CouchDB 1.0.1 as soon as the release is cut (next couple of days). This bugfix-only micro release also includes some other important fixes that should be included. I am not simply distro patching the bugfix for the data loss issue because it is spread across several files and several different commits by different people over a couple of days, and I think we should ship the official 1.0.1 release that has been carefully tested rather than cherry-picking out this one patch and possibly getting it wrong.

Dear release managers, I am targeting this to Ubuntu 10.10 beta as the fix should be available by then and this is a serious data loss bug.
