Bug Description

We have a lot of strings that are displayed in the UI that needs translation.
We also need to add the proper code for this translation to actually happen.

Things that need to be done:

* in all files with visible strings, import gtk and mark all visible strings with _("...")
* create a po/ directory and place a POTFILES.in file there with the list of files that contain translatable strings and a ubuntuone-sso-client.pot template file (created with intltool)
* the Ubuntu package needs to generate the .pot file during building, mainly with a call to 'intltool -p -g ubuntu-sso-client.pot' in debian/rules or using python-distutils-extra which makes things easier

Once the package is in soyuz, the template will get imported into LP and translators will be able to translate it

I've submitted a merge proposal with a proposed fix. It would be awesome if you could look at it and please consider targetting this for User Interface Freeze on the 26th of August, rather than for Beta. That way we'll be spared the overhead of requesting a freeze exception:

Thanks!

David:
in gui.py, this contains a double space:

205 + JOIN_HEADER_LABEL = _('Create %s account')

in auth.py, the second half of the sentence is not marked for translation:

130 + return_desc = _('You should now automatically <a ' \
131 + 'href="%(url)s">return to %(url)s</a>.') % { 'url' : url }

Can these be corrected?

Thanks Gabor,

Good job on seeing the double space, thanks :)

There have been very recent changes which make the code containing that second string in auth.py obsolete, so there will be no need to fix it.

I don't see how we can change the targeting to "User Interface Freeze" since there is no such milestone. Any ideas are welcome!

Linked branch with the needed changes.

Naty: if you or anyone commits it ASAP, it is just fine - it's not the milestone that really counts :).

This bug was fixed in the package ubuntu-sso-client - 0.99.2-0ubuntu1

---------------
ubuntu-sso-client (0.99.2-0ubuntu1) maverick; urgency=low

  * New upstream release:

  [ Natalia Bidart ]
  * Ping an URL when the login was successful (LP: #621226).
  * Signals propagates the app_name to be later check by the GUI so only those
    belonging to it will be processed (LP: #621377).

  [ Natalia Bidart ]
  * Added modifications to setup.py and a new po/ directory with the file that has
    strings that need translation (LP: #616515).

  [ Rodrigo Moya ]
  * Add clear_token DBus API (LP: #622833).

  [ Alejandro J. Cura ]
  * Make all the signals return the errors as dictionaries (LP: #616105).
  * Credential* signals should return the app_name as well (LP: #621377).

  [ Alejandro J. Cura ]
  * Use Ubuntu One OAuth credentials if they are already stored in the keyring

It seems that the package is missing the po/ folder, without which it will still be untranslatable.

Ubuntu One team, shall I mark the bug as New again, or rather file a new one?
