Dell 9300 wont boot linux-image-2.6.17-10-generic

When trying to boot the linux-image-2.6.17-10-generic boot up stops with:

Waiting for root filesystem

The machine is still alive but nothing happens.
fstab:
/dev/sda2 on / type reiserfs (rw,noatime,notail)

reconfiguring linux-image-2.6.17-10-generic with:

dpkg-reconfigure linux-image-2.6.17-10-generic

and booting with the new intitrd fixed this problem. But not sure why this wasn't correct from the begining, just upgrade from Dapper to Edgy.

Marking as invalid as the reporter can't give feedback on testing for hardy (fixed the problem locally).
