Bug Description

Dell Inspiron 9400

Once X11 shows up, the mouse and keyboard act in weird ways. For example mouse buttons stop working, and the keyboard inputs several times the same key even though it was pressed only once (eg. 'aaa' for 'a'). This is a bit random like if there was spurious events.

Booting with 'noapic' fixes it, but only one CPU core works in that mode so that's a bit of a waste.

Patch available upstream and in the bugzilla bug report. You might want to have a look at it as this seems to fix 9400 laptops to work properly.

Hardy Heron 8.04 was recently released. The bug report says 2.6.19 has the patch. Since hardy has 2.6.22, it would be helpful if you could test the new release and verify if this is still an issue - http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/download . You should be able to test your bug using the LiveCD. Please let us know your results. Thanks.
