New installation (6.06) hangs under startup

Bug Description

New installaltion hangs during startup. It first stops during the point "Network interfaces", if I press ctrl-c it continues but hangs after user id + password with arrow.
Network card is a CNet Wireless-G CWP-854 connected to a unsecured network.
Se also error 65300 for something similar
