Bug Description

Binary package hint: xubuntu-default-settings

Today I spent quite some time troubleshooting XDMCP trying to figure out why I could not use it. The reason turned out to be simple. The "Xubuntu welcome screen" gdm theme lacks an options button. This is necessary to call up the dialog to log in via XDMCP into another computer, for example. Please update the package and provide this button. Thank you.

What version of Xubutnu are you using? XDMCP has worked for me in Dapper.

Cody, thank you for the very fast response. I also use dapper but will upgrade to edgy shortly. I can use XDMCP now but not with the xubuntu theme for gdm. Is that the one you are using? I am talking about /usr/share/gdm/themes/xubuntu/

Ah. If I remember correctly then XDMCP logins uses a different greeter by default (though this might only be the case for me because I installed ubuntu and kubuntu before xubuntu). Was the Xubuntu theme the default for XDMCP logins or did you make it the greeter when you enabled XDMCP?

The Xubuntu theme is the default for an xubuntu installation, I believe.

I can confirm that when only having xbuntu-installed on feisty (installing if after a server install) you don't have the options menu with the greater which therefore prevents you from doing XDMCP logins like you can with the gnome login greater.

This bug was fixed in the package xubuntu-artwork - 0.24

---------------
xubuntu-artwork (0.24) jaunty; urgency=low

  * usr/share/gdm: updated gdm theme to 0.6 (includes several bugfixes and an
    icon for xdmcp, LP: #71412).
  * usr/share/xfce4/backdrops/xubuntu-jaunty.png: reupload with the correct
    ratio (4/3 instead of 960/691 :).
