Bug Description
When I boot into ubuntu it says
Starting Up ...
[17179573.840000] crc error
[17179573.840000] Kernel Panic - not syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on un-known-block(0,0)

There is no second choice for me to pick to boot into. I've been running off the liveCD for about 3 days now.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We are currently reviewing bug reports regarding older kernels. Did this issue ever resolve itself? Please let us know. If not, did you update/upgrade from a previous installtion of was this after a fresh install?
Also, now that the 7.10 Gutsy Gibbon release of Ubuntu is out, we were wondering if you can still reproduce this issue. Could you please download and try the new version of Ubuntu from http:// www.ubuntu. com/getubuntu/ download and report back your results? If the issue is still present in the new release, please attach the following information:
* uname -a > uname-a.log signature > version.log
* cat /proc/version_
* dmesg > dmesg.log
* sudo lspci -vvnn > lspci-vvnn.log
