Sorry, I forgot to add that this often happens to me after reanuding from suspension.

I've figured out that it happens for me either after resuming from suspension or after I've plugged into my adapter (both while plugged in and after I then remove it from the adapter it shows 2).

Same on HP EliteBook 6930p (Ubuntu Natty).
Moreover, with 2.6.39 kernel from kernel-ppa I have four (4!) batteries, two of them are like on screenshots, and two are totally clear (with no text at all).

Same problem on a E6410. With 11.04 and 11.10.
One is normally charged while the other one is always indicated with a charge of 0%.

When the system wake up , it used to hibernate immediately if the power is not plugged in.

the oneiric latitude issue is likely bug #852406, is anyone else still getting the bug?

I also see more batteries than I have (I have one and sometimes see as many as three) on a Dell E6420 running Linux Mint 12 (based on Oneiric 11.10). The extras always show a charge level of 0% so the laptop wants to hibernate immediately. Annoying.
