Bug Description

Following steps in test case ID hiu-002 in http://testcases.qa.ubuntu.com/Hardware/ExpansionPorts/USB
My mp3 player is not recognized as it is, a dialog should open suggesting to open it with Banshee. Instead an icon of a USB flash drive is showed in the desktop and nautilus opens a window showing the drives contents.

Specs of my mp3: TrekStor, i.Beat rock, 1GB.
Software version of the music player: 2.521.200

In Maverick (kernel 2.6.35-28) it isn't recognized as a music player either.

It seems you did not have the player connected when you reported this bug, so the automatically collected data does not have any information about it. Please plug it in, and copy&paste the output of "lsusb" here.

I also need a full list of supported input and output music/video formats (mp3, ogg, wmv, etc.), and the directory names where the player stores the music.

The device is listed as Bus 002 Device 008: ID 1671:1632

The player stores music directly in its root directory (you may create folders for sorting music, the player recognizes them and can play a single folder via "Folder" menu item) so is managed almost like a USB drive. There are two files (don't know if they are vital for the player): "SETTINGS.DAT" and "WMPInfo.xml". Also it stores .wav files in a VOICE folder for recorded voice.

It's capabilities:
Playback: wav, wma, mp3 are suppported. ogg is not supported. Output via a standard earphone plug. Not tested other formats.
Record: it has a microphone to record voice, it stores the data under the "/VOICE" folder in wav format.

Still couldn't see any changes. The player still is treated as a USBdisk in natty (with Banshee player). How can I be certain that this fix is in my system or how can I test this fix?

It's not released to natty yet, the fix is only in upstream git so far. Or do you mean you already applied it? If so, you should have a /usr/share/media-player-info/trekstor_i.beat-rock.mpi.

Hi. Please install media-player-info from -proposed on Lucid Lynx (Ubuntu 10.04), and check if it solves problem with autodetection for you.
