Bug Description

When using Intellij IDEA it often happens that the dock wont hide until the application is closed. Happens probably only after a popup has been shown. No reproducible scenario found 'yet' .

I am experiencing a similar issue where the launcher randomly appears and will not hide. This occurs when my mouse is no where near the launcher. The launcher stays visible even after I have closed all applications. I have a duel screen display. In ccsm I have the launcher hide setting set to autohide, but the problem occurs when using other settings

This is very annoying as the launcher appears above the windows I am working on as shown in the attached screenshot

To me happens when I use Libreoffice Calc maximized.

Also the launcher appears when edit a formula and select cells with control+click

Happens to me with libreoffice draw, regardless of current desktop or application minimisation. Closing librecalc stops the behaviour. Restarting unity -* services does not help.

'Landscape' Dual screen. Seems to not mind eclipse running so possibly this is a funky bug in a limited number of applications that don't use the panel service / window decorator properly?

I am experiencing this problem. The problem for me is caused by IntelliJ which requires the Sun JDK rather than OpenJDK. Closing the application resolves the problem immediately but so far I have not been able to detect a pattern or reproduce the problem on demand.

I have also had the window decorator crash on numerous occasions when the application opens a modal dialog.

Yes it appears to be a problem with libreoffice-calc for me too, seems to happen randomly when maximised. The launcher hides when calc is closed

I am also having this problem. It seems to happen when I am running LibreOffice Writer. While Writer is open, the launcher won't hide, no matter what I do.

Happens with LibreOffice Calc, same behavior as Andrew Bolster (#3) described (without Dual screen).

Same problem when using Mendeley desktop, which is also a java app.

The pattern is about Java apps, including Libreoffice which uses Java. When I'm running certain function of Java and some event activates the indicator function in the launcher, it stays visible over all windows until the apps related to Java are closed.

Workaround is to drag a desktop icon over the launcher (no need to release just hover). After resize the window to maximized and the launcher hides.

The same problem. Bug appears in the following apps: Opera browser, LibreOffice Calc, some Wine programs, Kopete. To see it (in Opera) just select text of any link in page and drag it. Unity dock appears and does not hide after releasing mouse button. The only way to hide dock is closing application.

michiel, thanks! This works for me too!

thanks for the bug report. Is that still an issue in Ubuntu 12.04? bug 748539 could be related.
