Bug Description

Binary package hint: brasero

This seems to have been reported a number of times previously, most closely related to https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/brasero/+bug/529696?comments=all

This seems to have reappeared in Natty.

Brasero.log contains:
8<----------------------------------
 cat brasero-session.log
Checking session consistency (brasero_burn_check_session_consistency brasero-burn.c:1739)
Unsupported type of task operation
Session error : An internal error occurred (brasero_burn_record brasero-burn.c:2856)
--------------------------------------->8
The /etc/libao.conf file contains:

8<----------------------------------
cat /etc/libao.conf
default_driver=alsa
quiet
--------------------------------------->8

Recreation is simple.

1) Open Brasero
2) New Audio Project
3) Copy MP3 (or OGG) file into project
4) Attempt to burn
5) CD is ejected before burning.

On a side note, I can't used "ubuntu-bug brasero" or "ubuntu-bug PROCESS_NUMBER" to report the bug it says that it isn't a valid ubuntu package.

I can confirm that installing brasero-cdrkit fixes this issue. The package should be included in the dependencies.

no, the brasero-cdrkit does not fix this issue.

I'm on Ubuntu 13.10, brasero and brasero-cdrkit are installed both.

When trying to burn anything with brasero directly or with rhythmnbox plugin (duplicate audio cd) the disc (cd-r) is ejected and I have the same message in brasero session log.

Today, I've set up the rhythmbox player to have the ability to burn audio cd and before the burning, the Cd was ejected all times. with rhythmbox or inside brasero for audio projects.
Audio Cd's already in use, yes, yes.

-Brasero was installed within software installer.

-Cdrkit also installed (installed with the brasero installation).
sudo apt-get install brasero-cdrkit
->Brasero cdrkit already install in the last version

-Plugin for rhythmbox installed
sudo apt-get install rhythmbox-plugin-cdrecorder

So i've said many times that Brasero is a bullshit program, 40 years that audio cd burning exist and is there the only one program in 2018 to bug at this time. to stay calm and professional, I've tried to install Xfburn (k3b cannot already being install on 64bit), and he works perfectly at the first try with drag and drop playlist from rhythmbox.

I am on Linux Mint 19.1 (based on Ubuntu 18.04). Installing brasero-cdrkit did not work, and after additionally installing flac the behavior changed into a freeze after the burn is started.
So I have also switched xfburn now, thanks to @pierreonimo's hint.

I also experienced this issue, under Zorin OS 16.1 (based on 20.24). The brasero-cdrkit was already installed.

After a bit of troubleshooting, I came across a Reddit comment [1] which explained the actual cause of the issue: the CD-R that I was attempting to write to was not blank. It appears that Brasero doesn't support writing to CDs that already have data, but instead of providing an informative error message, it instead behaves in a confusing and erroneous way. Examples of this behaviour include no options being listed under the "Options" heading in the CD Properties dialogue, and the early ejection of the CD, which leads to the whole operation erroring out.

For anyone else googling this issue, the workaround is to use a new blank CD-R.
