Bug Description

Binary package hint: evince

Just trying to make evince friendly - so it can be opened, then it can open a file. When I tried dropping "open" on the toolbar, it crashed. The bug report came up the next time I invoked evince.

Ubuntu 11.04

evince:
  Installed: 2.32.0-0ubuntu12.1
  Candidate: 2.32.0-0ubuntu12.1
  Version table:
 *** 2.32.0-0ubuntu12.1 0
        500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ natty-updates/main i386 Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
     2.32.0-0ubuntu12 0
        500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ natty/main i386 Packages

Expected:
I expected the "open file" icon to be in the toolbar after I dropped it - and stay there - so I can open files from Evince.
Happened:
When I let go (let up the mouse button), evince disappeared ("crashed" - no messages, no open evince anymore)

Had this both before and after enabling "apport"

I am on 11.10 and have this bug.
My Evince version is: 3.1.2

As Pedro Villavicencio asked to reproduce this bug:

1. Open Evince.
2. Right click Toolbar and open Toolbar Editor.
3. Try to drag *any* icon to Toolbar.

Is anyone able to confirm this with a different distribution? I would like to forward the issue upstream, but I don't have another distro handy to test (and I hate to send them Ubuntu-specific problems).

Distro : Ubuntu 11.04
Evince version : 2.32.0
Result : Bug occurs *only* adding "Open" icon.

Distro : Ubuntu 11.10
Evince version : 3.1.2

Last one is my case. I am pretty sure that yesterday this was the case for all icons. Because, I did not try to add "open" even once, I was trying to add "back". But, right now i can reproduce this bug as described before, only adding "open". The other ones working as expected.

Thank you taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, processing the crash report to get detailed information for the developers failed as the retracer did not generate a useful symbolic stack trace.
Please try to obtain a backtrace manually following the instructions at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProgramCrash and upload the backtrace (as an attachment) to the bug report. This will greatly help us in tracking down your problem.

BTW the bug on Oneiric is 834422 ; this is for tracking only the Natty problem. Thanks all.
