This bug was fixed in the package amarok - 2:2.4.3-1ubuntu3

---------------
amarok (2:2.4.3-1ubuntu3) precise; urgency=low

  * Fix kubuntu-devel address in maintainer field.
  * Fix infinite loop in context view eating CPU until main window is shown.
    (LP: #854030)
    - Add kubuntu_fix_contextview_loop.diff
  * Hardcode the libmysqld_pic dir as mysql_config doesn't emit it anymore.
    - Add kubuntu_mysqld_pic_libdir.diff
  * Update Build-Depends for mysql 5.5.

Hello Felix, or anyone else affected,

Accepted amarok into oneiric-proposed, the package will build now and be available in a few hours. Please test and give feedback here. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to enable and use -proposed. Thank you in advance!

Using the current Amarok in oneiric I minimised its window, quit amarok and restarted amarok. It used over 100% CPU according to "top". I installed 2:2.4.3-1ubuntu2.1 from oneiric-proposed and restarted amarok and it used about 3%CPU, a great improvement.
