Bug Description

Binary package hint: network-manager

Ubuntu Version: Feisty
Network Manager: 0.6.4-6ubuntu2

Connection Type: Wired

Summary: Network manager adds an empty /etc/resolv.conf entry when my router is restarted (DLink DI-624). If I make Network Manager release and renew (As described below) a correct entry is added to /etc/resolv.conf

Problem: After router is restarted (Power outtage or restarting due to configuration changes) Network Manager creates a blank /etc/resolv.conf file.

Temporary fix: Disable networking via the network-manager applet, then re-enable it. When another DHCP request is sent this time network-manager adds the correct DNS entry to /etc/resolv.conf

Hi, could you please test this in Gutsy? We'll only be able to address most network-manager bugs in the latest release. Thanks.

Thanks for the suggestion on a fix, but I don't consider that a fix but more of a work-around.

I still have this issue with gutsy. It happens with multiple routers. It still seems fairly sporadic, when I find out the exact steps for it to fail I will update the bug.

Thank you,

Scott

maybe your connection drops when restarting router and network manager doesn't successfully reconnect?

Could you please attach a gutsy syslog of this incident?
