Bug Description

Any time I switch input method to Anthy the keyboard-icon switches to an "icon not available"-icon. Switching back to "Input method Off" reverts the icon back to the keyboard-icon. I would expect the icon to not change at all, or maybe change to the Anthy-icon which can be seen in for example Preferences-->Input Method.

Also, I am not running Unity, but GNOME Classic (no effects).

I found another bug report (#564034) to be related to this. It seems the old behavior was for the icon to switch to another icon showing the input method being used at the moment. This bug report also explains why this behavior was changed, and I suspect this is also the reason behind the bug I am experiencing.

I also found the same issue happened on Ubuntu 10.10
Here is the patch of indicator-application-0.2.9 to fix the issue on Ubuntu 10.10.

Reassigning to indicator-application since the patch suggested is against that codebase ... is that still an issue?

It looks like this was fixed in libappindicator with bug #885080. The attached patch doesn't apply anymore.

fourdollars, can you confirm that this is fixed?
