I got this bug when unmounting the fourth (and last) lvm volume on an external hd, and it seems like I can reliably reproduce it

I am not sure I can reproduce it, but I apparently got the same when ejecting/safely removing a SD card which was plugged into a USB multicard reader. Thought I had been doing the same before without seeing issues. When it happened the nautilus window seemed to go into a busy state for a while (greyed out).

This bug was fixed in the package overlay-scrollbar - 0.2.16-0ubuntu1

---------------
overlay-scrollbar (0.2.16-0ubuntu1) precise; urgency=low

  * New upstream release.
    - Always use bg[SELECTED] for the bar in Gtk+ 2.
    - nautilus crashed with SIGSEGV in show_thumb_cb (LP: #907111)
    - Low visibility impaired users can't easily disable overlay
      scrollbar (LP: #934123)
    - scroll *on* thumb not functional (LP: #951121)
