race in lock checking?

Bug Description

ubuarchive (and the others as well) sets a trap to clean up its lockfile on exit.

It then checks for an existing sync process, and if it finds one logs an error and then calls "exit 1".
It looks to me like the exit trap will run in this case, and remove the lock file anyway.
