Bug Description

a user installed Ubuntu in dual-boot with Windows on a non-GPT computer.
The default installation failed (no access to Ubuntu), and broke access to Windows.

Here is the Boot-Info-Script summary after installation:
- stable: http://paste.ubuntu.com/803082
- GIT version: http://paste.ubuntu.com/803319/

We can see the presence of the "insmod efi_gop" , and "insmod efi_uga" in the grub.cfg (does it mean that Ubiquity installed grub-efi?)

I'll need /var/log/installer/syslog and preferably also /var/log/installer/partman in order to have a hope of debugging this. Could you please attach them?

The user managed to reinstall GRUB successfully. Current BootInfo: http://paste.ubuntu.com/892926

Remarks:
- the "dmesg | grep EFI" output is much shorter now. (i don't know why, nor what it means)
- when i originally filled the bug, i supposed that Ubiquity used grub-efi because of the presence of the "insmod efi_gop" , and "insmod efi_uga" in the grub.cfg. But currently these elements are still there even with grub-pc, so i guess now that my supposition was wrong, and Ubiquity indeed used grub-pc (but failed) ? if yes, i'll have to re-title this bug.

In original description, http://paste.ubuntu.com/803319/ , fstab doesn't contain /boot/efi so Ubiquity didn't install grub-efi.
And sda13 ends far (449GB) from the start of the disk.
So the problem is definitely not same as Bug #1015211 , but Bug #1030887 .
