Bug Description

Hi,

while e.g. a PDF- or SVG-file is displayed on screen correctly, the print-out contains some missing characters, a rectangle appears instead.

I am using a laser printer: Samsung CLP-550.

I have tried two printer drivers:
(a) the one which is shipped with Xubuntu.
(b) the driver mentioned at "HOWTO Install Samsung Unified Printer Driver" (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=341621 -> from source "deb http://www.bchemnet.com/suldr/ debian extra")

This issue appears also in previous releases.

I will attach these files:

* cups debug logging:
troubleshoot.txt

* example PDF, the acronym's "P" at the end of the article is there:
non-missing characters.pdf

* a picture from the print-out where the "P" is missing:
missing characters.JPG

* comparable issue, last letter in line "Fahrplan & Onlinebuchung", the g, and in the last line, .ht[]l instead of .html:
print-out - missing g and m.pdf

* now with a svg-file, after printing with inkscape there are missing: the no. 3 and the 'u':
print-out - mising 3 and u.svg

This is caused by Poppler converting the PDF input file to PostScript for your PostScript printer. This will be fixed in the next cups-filters package, then we will let the pdftops filter use Ghostscript.
