Bug Description

When the file manager is not handling the desktop and all windows are minimized the behaviour of unity is erratic, causing: (somewhat intermittently)

* The last minimized window seems to retain focus, even though minimized.
* Flickering of the shadow under the main title bar when the mouse is over the desktop.
* Flickering of the focus triangle when the mouse is over the launcher icon.
* Flickering of the application name in the title bar when the mouse is over the launcher icon.
* Difficulty restoring the application from the launcher: having to click multiple times or restore/launch another application first.
* Alt+F2, Super+ etc stop working.

Step to reproduce:

1. dconf write /org/gnome/desktop/background/show-desktop-icons false
2. Minimize all window.
3. Observe the above mentioned behaviour.

As far as I know, this has been an issue since Natty. Unity depends on Nautilus to be present for some stuff to work.

The problem with Super not working is also described in bug 998911.

I had this happen to me, too. Enabling show desktop icons and it works normally. Ubuntu 12.10.
