Bug Description

Binary package hint: winbind

With winbind installed, one could previously usually add 'wins' to the 'hosts' line in /etc/nsswitch.conf to allow ubuntu to resolve wins names in a decentralized manner. This seems to be broken in feisty.

I am not sure if this is related but I have been having problems with my samba installation and have traced it to winbind for now.

When winbind is installed I can browse samba shares on a feisty machine (fresh install). When I remove winbind, I can browse the said shares. If I install winbind again ... cannot browse shares, when I remove it ... shares are again browseable.

I don't understand why the status on this was "incomplete". The definition of "Incomplete" is:
# If you have to ask the reporter questions, set the bug to Incomplete
# Ask the submitter to provide any necessary information in a comment, and make sure you subscribe yourself to the bug report so you will get any updates to the bug via e-mail.
# In the event that a bug has been in the "Incomplete" state for more than 4 weeks, meaning it has not received a response to a request for more information, the bug status should be changed to "Invalid"

Since the status has been improperly set all this time, I won't go marking "invalid" just yet, but the bug is over a year old, so:
Does this bug still exist?
