Bug Description

Xubuntu 12.4 LTS. I can`t create a encrypted home directory from the beginning of install. I get: ubi-usersetup failed with exit code 1.
This is upon fresh install from USB, I also try to install from CD Xubuntu 12.04 LTS AMD64, same thing in both cases.
My hardware is: AMD64
This is the error that I get in the syslog:

Apr 29 13:40:32 xubuntu kernel: [372.247596] Intel AES-NI instructions are not detected.
Apr 29 13:40:33 xubuntu ubiquity: INFO: You do not currently have any swap space defined.

Apr 29 13:40:33 xubuntu ubiquity[5128]: dbfilter_handle_status: ('ubi-usersetup', 1)

P.S. I don`t need a swap file, I got 5.GB RAM and the previous version of Xubuntu has worked fine without swap.

Also on Ubuntu 12.04 amd64 installation. Exactly same syslog output except replace xubuntu with ubuntu.

I'm pretty sure this is a duplicate of bug 989279.

I get this error when doing an install, using manual partitioning, that creates a 4-gig swap partition, as well as a / and a /home. Bug 989279 specifies "with no swap partition," so at least in my case the two are not the same.

- occured in 64 bit and 32 bit version !
- with and without swap partition (error message is confusing) !

Generating manually a user with encrypted home paritition after installation (adduser --encrypt-home username) worked.

Lack of quality for a LTS version...

Could the people reporting that they see this *with* a swap partition please file a separate bug and attach logs? Even if they happen to have similar symptoms, the cause of that problem is not going to be the same as the cause of this problem - we'll need to diagnose it separately.
