A story-telling MMORPG
Dock 9 is a textual MMORPG (a MUD), focused on bringing an engaging and vibrant world to its playerbase. With a game library written from the ground up to cater to dynamic cities and NPCs, Dock 9 hopes to bring something new to the text MMO genre.
Building on the strengths (and learning from the flaws) of being in a gaming genre over two decades old, we hope to take advantage of our non-graphical nature, rather than treating it as handicap to be worked around.
Still in early development, here are a few of the features we're currently working on:
* Dynamic towns, that change in population, prosperity, and even what types of stores are there, based on what players do.
* NPCs with daily routines and schedules. They will go to work, go to the grocery, change residence, and so forth.
* Massive areas of land in which players can create their own towns.
* An open-ended economic system, with currency based (in a round-about sort of way) on real-world electrical energy.
* Bodies, detailed down to the organs and their functions. (This doesn't sound too cool, but think for a moment on the implications in combat.)
* Speaking of combat, we'll have a judicial system, meaning you may want to think twice about attacking someone in a town.
* And so, sooooo much more. Check out our blueprints for further plans.
