28 Oct 2007 ... Open Source iwl3945 should be used instead. The reasons are: - ipw is not
maintained any more - ipw is using closed-source user-space daemon - ipw has
issues (there are multiple bugs in launchpad) ... Make sure you have at least
14.38 of linux-ubuntu-modules-2.6.22. The default for Hardy is iwl3945.

4 Dec 2007 ... the driver only seems to understand WPA when wpa_supplicant uses the "ipw"
mode (because the driver is based on the Intel ipw driver). I'm not sure whether
NetworkManager would support this at all - IIRC ... some code won't compile. Is
this still an issue in Hardy? Why did you assign this bug to yourself?

8 Sep 2006 ... I haven't tried connecting with wpa_supplicant, but the driver (ipw) does have
WPA support. .... I havent seen this for a long time so i assume that this is at least
fixed in NM 0.7 (intrepid) ... if not in 0.6.6 (hardy). Please reopen if i am mistaken

fix for a deprecated set of ipw drivers will be made. And even though it looks like
linux-ubuntu-modules-2.6.22 provides the iwlwifi drivers - the newer version of
the iwlwifi drivers in Hardy will not likely be backported to Gutsy.
