The aim of this "Project Group AmebaPOS Linux system" is to create a Linux distribution for point-of-sale systems that meets the necessities of retail environment. This Ameba distribution for Point-of-Sales will be based on Ubuntu Core rootfs, and it'll fit in the main POS system manufacturers (NCR, Wincor Nixdorf and IBM retail POS systems).

This Project group is a Linux distribution, because of this, there are a few sub-projects related:

A. Hardware exploitation:
    A.1 The installer for the ubuntu-core-rootfs, for POS with VGA and for POS with serial line displays (non-VGA systems).
    A.2 Monitoring system software with web interface.
    A.3 Automatic Hardware Inventory software
    A.5 Web console for Software deployment (system software and user software).

B. Middleware:
   B.1 Database middleware for retail environments.
   B.2 D-BUS middleware for POS device access (printers, displays, keyboards, scanners, ...)

C. User exploitation:
   C.1 Eclipse plugin for ubuntu-core-rootfs SDK.
   C.2 ubuntu-core-rootfs virtualization for Eclipse development.
   C.3 User applications demos, handling POS devices, using several languages and D-BUS middleware.

D. Other:
    D.1 Near Field Communication (NFC) support software.
    D.2 PCIDSS specification for ubuntu-core-rootfs.
    D.3 Electronic transaction fund (ETF) software integration.
