Failed to reproduce using w3m version w3m/0.5.3+git20151119 (xenial), thru an SSH link using mintty UTF-8.

The <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=us-ascii"> line in the header looks interesting though. The actual encoding of the webpage is UTF-8.

While doing some bug cleanup work, I found this old bug.

First of all, thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better.

Ubuntu 16.04 (xenial) reached end-of-standard-support on April 29, 2021 and Ubuntu 12.04 (precise) reached end-of-life on April 28, 2017. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all reported bugs promptly; it appears to be no further action possible at this time.

If I understand correctly the issue, the problem was that the page didn't load properly (garbled text). I checked if the issue remains the same, but using the version of w3m on jammy (w3m/0.5.3+git20230121) what I see it's only the "Unicode table" Header without the table itself. I can see the decimal version of this table.

So, this seems more an issue that can be reported upstream so we can pick the change later in Ubuntu. Could you please do that at https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/pkgreport.cgi?src=w3m or open an issue at https://github.com/tats/w3m/issues ? If you have done so, please tell us the number of the upstream bug (or the link), so we can add a bugwatch that will inform us about its status. Thanks in advance.
