Asus G73SW Will not suspend nor hibernate

Bug Description

System will attempt to suspend, but will go to a black screen w/ backlight after a few moments. CPU light will remain lit (constant), and fans will slowly increase in speed until running at max constantly. Hibernate acts in a similar manner. To my knowledge this happens both with and without the proprietary drivers, but I can do a test with both if such is needed.

Ubuntu Release: Ubuntu 12.04 LTS.
Hardware platform is an ASUS G73sw with NVIDIA graphics

Expected: System successfully hibernates/suspends

What Happened: System freezes solid during attempt. Not even REISUB will recover/restart.

NOTE: This occurs on Kubuntu, Xubuntu, and Ubuntu (I've experimented on all three)

I can confirm this happens with both the open-source and proprietary nvidia drivers. So I do not believe it is an issue with either.
