update-notifier_apt-check

O.k. I googled it and found a way to fix it.

root@Ubuntu704Beta:~# apt-get clean

I deleted the lock file in the var/lib/apt/lists/ directory.

root@Ubuntu704Beta:~# ls -lad /var/lib/apt/lists/lock
-rw-r----- 1 root root 0 2007-04-02 09:10 /var/lib/apt/lists/lock
root@Ubuntu704Beta:~#
It's working now, so never mind.

To fix "Err http://us.archive.canonical.com feisty-commercial/main Translation-en_US
  Could not resolve 'us.archive.canonical.com'" just remove the "us." from the hostname.

I'm looking at the crash now.

After fixing the us.archive.canonical.com sources.list entry, can you still reproduce this bug?

I still get this bug every once in awhile on my systems.
I deleted the lock file in the var/lib/apt/lists/ directory.
and that still seems to be a good work -around, I am not sure of the cause, maybe a change in the sources.list file.
Sometimes a command in terminal helps with the apt-get problems,
root@UbuntuGustyGibbon710Beta:~# apt-get --fix-missing
