Bug Description

I just upgraded my laptop to Ubuntu Quantal last weekend, and when I launch thunderbird, it hangs, making me click force quit when closing the window. Below is the output I get from launching thunderbird from terminal.

code:

Hi,
got the same problem after upgrade from 12.04 to 12.10 beta1. My output looks like this:

I tried to install the latest beta version of thunderbird 16 via the official ppa - with the same result as seen above.

I disabled the ppa and am now back on the official thunderbird 15 build of quantal.

I deleted the couch-db extention of thunderbird via the software-center.
And after that, Thunderbird works again.

FYI was having exactly same problem (hang at startup, ESource* error messages), also solved by uninstalling thunderbird-couchdb pkg.

This bug influences me as well but i have only the problem with fonts. I'm not sure that this refers to thunderbird directly (i have thunderbird 17.0.5 on ubuntu 12.10)

We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to review all reported bugs in a timely manner. This bug was reported some time ago and there have been many changes in Ubuntu and Thunderbird since that time.

Ubuntu 12.10 (quantal) reached end-of-life on May 16, 2014.

Do you still see a problem related to the one that was reported in a currently supported version of Ubuntu? Please let us know if you do and in which version of Ubuntu.

Thank you for helping make Ubuntu better.
