Bug Description

I'm trying to upload the latest DockbarX 0.90 to the main WebUpd8 PPA as usual, but I've discovered a pretty major display bug when using it in Ubuntu 12.10 Quantal Quetzal.

The best way to understand is to take a look at this screenshot: http://i.imgur.com/QgxDw.png

There are 2: the window list background turns transparent after I hover some items and the right click menu is invisible for the most part. This isn't theme-specific. Also, in my Ubuntu 12.04 test it worked just fine.

Great...
Please tell me there's some error message. Othervice this might be a though one and I have to set up a 12.10 virtualbox. I guess I should do that anyway.

Is this bug connected to kde preview or compiz? Does it happen with the previews of or when running metacity.

By the way, I've forgot to mention I was using Unity (with Compiz)

With Metacity: the bug doesn't occur
With GNOME Shell: only the first part occurs. I mean, the icons in DockX turning transparent. The other one doesn't occur.

Here's what I get when running "dockx":

DockbarX 0.90

I fixed that GtkWarning but I don't know if it is related to the bug.

Does the bug happen even if you disable the previews?

Yes, the previews are disabled.

I can't get compiz running in virtualbox so I can't test this at the moment. I get neither problems using metacity without compositing. I guess the fix I uploaded for the gtkWarning did nothing?

Unity with Compiz works just fine in VirtualBox for me with 12.10. In fact, it doesn't even require installing the VirtualBox guest additions anymore (except that not installing it, Unity is very slow). it doesn't work with the classic session though, not even on my real hardware.

And no, unfortunately the bug is still there.

Ok. Got a virtual box to work on my laptop. It seems to be a bug in compiz when shape masks are used (it didn't resize the mask). Worked around it by using the more appropriate input shape mask if a compsite manager is running.

I haven't been able to reproduce the other visual glitch at all, with or without compiz. Could you open a new bug report for that one and perhaps post a video how it appears.

Ok, I was able to replicate the other part of the bug. It only happens with when using corner or center type of docks, not when using panel.

Found an earlier bug report mentioning that other bug. Bug #970737
