Bug Description

This excerpted from the end of dmesg - on my 64 bit version it only takes 5 seconds to move from nf-conntract to vboxdrv..

I turned off internet connection sharing in Firestarter which change the output of dmseg:

As this is such an old bug, I'm assuming that you either found a workaround or upgrading to newer Ubuntu releases has resolved your problem.

I'm going to mark this as a Won't Fix.

Please do. I've been running Ubuntu Gnome since it was first released.
