could you try grabbing this xorg.conf, and changing 'sna' to 'uxa':

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Testing/IntelSNA?action=AttachFile&do=view&target=xorg.conf

then drop it in /etc/X11 and reboot.

affects: xorg (Ubuntu) → xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu)

Ok, so we need the exact steps to reproduce the bug, could you provide them? Remember to change the xorg.conf back to sna or remove it before trying to reproduce.

Sure. All I have to do is remove the xorg.conf file, reboot and open a mkv video file with vlc.
Its reproduceable each time-
Not sure about those BIOS warnings, I get them with both SNA and no xorg.

Attaching full backtrace.

What I did:
Start an MKV download in Chromium
Drag and drop the mkv.crdownload file to VLC
Xorg crashed
