file crashes with under a couple of conditions

Bug Description

Binary package hint: file

file crashes under a number of circumstances
  when using the -c tag and no file specified - probably the same as bug 38015
  when using the -c tag and a non-existent file specified
  when using an invalid tag: ex "file -d"

this is on Ubuntu 6.10, with file version 4.17

file doesn't crash on my machine - gutsy 64bit - I think a patch was released as per bug 38015 which resolved these crashes

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, I am closing it because the bug has been fixed in the latest development version of Ubuntu and in Gutsy (patch 905-file-segfault.dpatch corrected this issue)
