gnome session fail on upgrade 7.04

Bug Description

during upgrade just after setting up update-notifier (0.56.3)... get error dpkg: dependency problems prevent config of ubuntu-desktop: ubuntu-desktop depends on gnome-session; however: package gnome-session is not configured yet. dpkg: error processing ubuntu-desktop (--configure) : dependency problems - leaving unconfigured
errors were encountered while processing: gnome-session ubuntu-desktop

this is second time today try to update to 7.04. last time after desktop was not able to get to load at all. even old cores had to reformat and install from live cd 6.06 then update up to 7.04 installing all of the updates for 6.06 then up to 6.09 or 6.10 whatever it was. been at this all day so my head is tired

Thanks for your bug report. Could you try to get a valgrind log for the crash (you can follow the instructions on https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Valgrind)?
