Bug Description

xserver-xorg-input-tslib crashes Xserver every time the screen is touched.

I have an EXOPC, with Ubuntu 12.10. When I install xserver-xorg-input-tslib X crashes and restarts when ever I touch the screen. When I uninstalled it, X became stable again. I will try to add the logs later.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1132829/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package.

This bug did not have a package associated with it, which is important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper developers. You can learn more about finding the right package at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage . I have classified this bug as a bug in xf86-input-tslib.

Thanks for that. I spent the last 27+ hrs troubleshooting this, and remember the package as listed in synaptic. I do realize that it is actually xf86-input-tslib, but went with the name of the package. Since I am on Windows at work right now, and don't have my tablet, I can't supply the logs at the moment. I appreciate you being gracious and looking into this.

Hi,

I'm facing the same bug on my Openmoko GTA04 running qtmoko on Debian testing (jessie) + xserver-xorg-input-tslib built from this source package xf86-input-tslib 0.0.6-7build3.

Here is a piece of related log :

selected device is not a touchscreen I understand
/usr/bin/Xorg: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/xorg/modules/input/tslib_drv.so: undefined symbol: xf86XInputSetScreen
XIO: fatal IO error 11 (Resource temporarily unavailable) on X server ":0.0"
after 863 requests (863 known processed) with 0 events remaining.

Hope this helps.

Commenting out the call to xf86XInputSetScreen in src/tslib.c solves the problem. See Debian bug report #674821 (http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=674821).
