Every time I start oowriter with an existing argument, this error is
thrown immediately. If oowriter is started without a document, the form
opens perfectly, however, the program crashes with the same error upon
writing some figures.

WORKAROUND: Disable spellcheck, not the best but it works.

I had the same bug (BTW, thanks Trevor: the workaround did the work great!)

The bug appeared when I upgraded from feisty to gutsy.

Sorry, I forgot to mention that the bug occurred also with ooffice-calc. Probably because libspell is included in ooffice-core.

Distro: Ubuntu gutsy
kernel vanilla 2.6.21.1

The bug appears to be in libhunspell-1.1-0 version 1.1.5-6 that is the gutsy version, if you downgrade the package to the feisty version it disappears.
