Bug Description

I upgraded xubuntu from 6.06 to 6.10: no problem. So I pass from 2.6.15 kernel (6.06) to 2.6.17 (6.10)
After that, I upgraded xubuntu from 6.10 to 7.04: when upgrade-manager reboots and I load xubuntu, I get the standard BusyBox console and an error says me "/bin/sh: can't access tty: job control turned off"

In tty1 I had the following error: "mdadm: No devices listed in conf file were found. Check root=bootarg cat /proc/cmdline or missing modules, devices cat /proc/modules ls /dev
Alert!: dev/hda7 does not exist.
Dropping to shell!"

I consult Mr. Google and I found https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/initramfs-tools/+bug/32123 and I substituted the kernel 2.6.20-15-generic (of 7.04) and the corresponding initrd for the previous kernel and initrd (2.6.17 of 6.10) and now I can boot xubuntu

Can you confirm what kind of bug it's?

I suggest, after triage this bug, mark as important bug. It makes that no one "trust" in ubuntu updates between releases I think

I got the same problem when updating from 6.06 -> 6.10 ->7.10. Gutsy's 2.6.22-14 386 fails into busybox shell after "Hmm, seems the drive doesn't support multisession CD's" and then "ALERT! /dev/md0 does not exist". Busybox does not see any /dev/md* or /dev/hd*.
