Bug Description

Could someone please help me! I need to get this sound issue resolved. I have been trying to search the forums for a fix but apparently nothing helps. I have reinstalled Ubuntu 5 times already.

Please help. Let me know what output you would like to look at.
Thanks.

Thanks for reporting !
Please mention the version of Ubuntu you are using.
Did sound used to work in earlier versions of Ubuntu/ Other Linux distros ?
Please tell us the output of the command 'lspci -nn' or give some detail about the sound hardware you have.
Goto System -> Preference -> Hardware information, then click on 'Ubuntu Device Database' button. It will add your hardware information to the Ubuntu database.
Thank you.

Hi Dennis, Thanks for replying. I am using Ubuntu 7.04. I have never had
sound. It seems like Ubuntu detects the sound card but there is no
sound. Below is the output from lspci -nn. This was a custom PC. I used
an gigabyte motherboard with on-board sound. The manufacturer of the
soundcard is realtek. The sound card works fine on Windows XP. Please
help. I would love to use Ubuntu as my default OS but without sound
thats hard to do.

Hi Brian. Thanks for your help. Here is the output you requested. I am
attaching it as separate text files since that is what the website
recommends.

Let me know if you need any more info. Ubuntu is a great OS. I love it
so far. If the sound works I will be a very very very happy man. Thanks
for helping.

Launchpad Janitor (janitor) wrote : This bug is now reported against the 'linux' package

Beginning with the Hardy Heron 8.04 development cycle, all open Ubuntu kernel bugs need to be reported against the "linux" kernel package. We are automatically migrating this bug to the new "linux" package. However, development has already began for the upcoming Intrepid Ibex 8.10 release. It would be helpful if you could test the upcoming release and verify if this is still an issue - http://www.ubuntu.com/testing . If the issue still exists, please update this report by changing the Status of the "linux" task from "Incomplete" to "New". We appreciate your patience and understanding as we make this transition. Thanks!
