My Dell Dimension desktop shows purple/green and distorted Flash video unless acceleration method is changed

User reported a work-around:

Edit (or create) /etc/X11/xorg.conf as follows: (ugh, can't format, should be a tab before each line except the first and the last).

Section "Device"
Identifier "Intel Graphics"
Driver "intel"
Option "AccelMethod" "uxa"
EndSection

Restart X (reboot, restart your display manager, whatever). Colors are back to the way they used to be and flash works.

This bug is missing log files that will aid in diagnosing the problem. From a terminal window please run:

apport-collect 1178982

and then change the status of the bug to 'Confirmed'.

If, due to the nature of the issue you have encountered, you are unable to run this command, please add a comment stating that fact and change the bug status to 'Confirmed'.

Had the same issue, workaround above fixed it. I've submitted my own apport info.

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v3.10 kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

I see the distortion in Mozilla Thunderbird and also Forefox, see attached screen shot

The workaround from comment 1 seems to help, but I should test for some more days.

I want to add 2 things:
1.) the file /etc/X11/xorg.conf was not existent on my system, I had to create it new. Is that correct?
