Bug Description
Steps to reproduce:
1. Boot into system
2. Plug in a 3 ring Microphone
3. Launch Sound preference --> Input tab
4. Observe
Expected results: System should detect the external microphone and switch to use it
Actual results: System fail to detect the external microphone
