Bug Description

I am attempting to allow a roaming client to manually mount as a user a samba share. but unfortunately mount.cifs (and mount.smbfs) does not honor the option in fstab.

/etc/fstab:
//stor.lan/storage /mnt/stor.lan cifs users,noauto,guest,uid=1000,iocharset=utf8 0 0

the users option is supposed to allow manual mounting of filesystems by the users themselves.

The share in this case is not required to be permanently mounted but on demand (done by the user via a shortcut).
No sudo is not acceptable (at least in our environment)
Yes i am aware of intr and bg options but this is not feasible with our setup.

mount.cifs/mount.smbfs should honor the users option in fstab (or the handler invoking it should)

That version is no more supported; and backport is not expected as its not a 'security' problem
